BBVA Liga review: Levante still roars

 　　MADRID, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Enjoying a dream start of the season, Levante remained on top of the Spanish BBVA Primera Liga following the ninth round of matches.

　　Ruben Suarez's injury time free kick gave his side their eighth successive win as they came from behind to win a thrilling match against Real Sociedad 3-2.

　　Real Sociedad had taken the lead thanks to Daniel Estrada, but Valdo and Nano turned the game on its head. Real Sociedad looked to have snatched a draw thanks to Inigo Martinez's 85th minute strike, but the match had one more turn of the deck as Ruben fired home from around 25 yards.

　　Real Madrid remain second thanks to a 3-0 home win against Villarreal on Wednesday night. Karim Benzema, Kaka and Angel De Maria scored in the first half as Madrid romped¹ to a big lead, before conserving² their energy in the second period.

　　Barcelona looked jaded³, but Xavi Hernandez's first half free kick gave the Catalans a 1-0 win in Granada. Granada ended with just nine players are referee⁴ Muniz Fernandez sent off home duo, Jamie Romero and Dani Benitez, although it should be added that Granada, who ended the round of games bottom of the table, failed to get a shot on target all night.

　　Valencia move back into fourth place thanks to a Jordi Alba goal 10 minutes from time which gave his team a 1-0 win away to Zaragoza.

　　Sevilla meanwhile maintained their unbeaten start to the season but dropped to fifth following a 2-2 draw at home to Racing⁵ Santander. Manu del Moral scored both of Sevilla's goals with the last one coming in injury time just as Racing looked like sealing their first win of the season.

　　Sporting Gijon moved out of the relegation⁶ zone thanks to a 2-1 win in Mallorca. Mate Bilic and an own goal from Joao Victor saw Sporting come back from 1-0 at halftime. Chori Castro had put Mallorca ahead after just 16 minutes.

　　Dani Guiza scored his first goals for Getafe since returning to Spain this summer. The former Spain international netted in each half to cancel out two goals from Osasuna forward Ibrahima Balde, who had twice put the visitors ahead in an entertaining 2-2 draw.

　　Malaga's poor run of form continued with a 2-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano, who claimed their first home win of the season. Pedro Botelho and Raul Tamudo punished some poor defending from a Malaga side that was reduced to 10 men after Eliseu Dos Santos was sent off for an aggression⁷ on Rayo winger Lass.

　　The round of matches ended on Thursday with Walter Pandiani's first half goal giving Espanyol a 1-0 win at home to Betis, who have now lost their last five matches.

　　Finally Athletic⁸ Club Bilbao moved into the top half of the table thanks to a comfortable win at home to Atletico Madrid. Fernando Llorente scored twice while Gaizka Toquero added a third as the Basque side won 3-0 to take their unbeaten run league run to four matches.
