Ashley Cole extends one-year contract with Chelsea

 　　LONDON, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has signed a one-year contract extension with the English Premier¹ League club, Chelsea announced on Tuesday.

　　"I am pleased I will be starting my eighth season at Chelsea," said the 32-year-old England international on the club website.

　　"I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies². That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone."

　　The contract extension ends weeks long speculations³ recently which has linked Cole with several European giants including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

　　Cole joined Chelsa from their city rivals Arsenal⁴ in 2006 and his previous contract in Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of this campaign.
