A 20-year-old man has been charged with the murder of an eight-year-old girl in Queensland. Trinity Bates was taken from her Bundaberg home sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. Her body was found in a drain near her family's house. The man is in custody¹ and is due in court later today.

In Sydney, police have charged a man with the murder of a Malaysian consular² worker. Mohd Shah Saemin was stabbed and bashed by two men outside his Leichhardt home on Sunday night. A 55-year-old man will appear in court today.

Around 2,000 clients of the failed Storm Financial group will be eligible³ for cash and other concessions⁴. The Commonwealth⁵ Bank agreed to a settlement deal after admitting to bad practices in lending to Storm clients. But the Storm Investors⁶ Consumer Action Group says the offer won't be enough for some clients.

And Australia's first nuclear waste dump is likely to be sited in the Northern Territory on a piece of remote Aboriginal⁷ land. The Federal Government has revealed Muckaty Station north of Tennant Creek⁸, as the location it'll pursue for a national radioactive waste repository. But some traditional owners are opposed to the decision.
