There're reports yesterday's freak storm in Perth caused a landslide1 just west of the CBD. The city was bucketed with more than 40 millimetres of rain while strong wind gusts2 and hail also took their toll3. Houses were flooded and public transport was affected4. Authorities say the damage bill could be in a hundreds of millions. 

The Australian Rio Tinto executive Stern Hu is likely to face a jail term in China after admitting in a Shanghai court to taking more than one million dollars in bribes5. Mr.Hu also faces industrial espionage6 charges. His trial will resume today. 

Kevin Rudd's planned health takeover will be under the microscope when he faces off in a debate with Tony Abbott today. The Opposition7 leader says he won't be releasing any new policies and will scrutinize8 the government's record. 

Strike action continues to dog British Airways9. More than a third of all flights have been cancelled since cabin crew began a strike three days ago. A second round of strike is due to start on Saturday. 

And New Zealand will resume at 6/396 on the final day of the first Test against Australia in Wellington. Weather interrupted the match yesterday, causing a couple of hours play to be lost.
