 There's been another drive-by shooting in Sydney, the nine in just over a week. A woman and two small children have escaped injury when four shots were fired into their home in the city's west early this morning. The New South Wales crime commission has been called into help investigate the spate¹ of shootings.

 

Independent MP Andrew Wilkie is taking his bid for poker² machine reform to the west today. He is holding talks with the West Australia Nationals MP Tony Crook³. Mr Crook's support for mandatory⁴ pre-commitment could be vetoed with other cross benches looking unlikely to support the reform.

Pakistan's prime minister has been ordered to appear before the country's supreme⁶ court to answer charges of contempts. Yousuf Raza Gilani has been refusing to reopen corruption⁷ cases against the president and other politicians. If he is found guilty, he could be thrown out of office and jailed for six month.
