 AFL Footballer Liam Jurrah has just been charged over a machete attack in Alice Springs.A 35-year-old man suffered serious head injuries during the attack at a town camp.Now Liam Jurrah and another man were arrested and questioned by police.The young Melbourne Demons¹ star is in central Australia on family-leave.We'll  have more on that this hour.

 

Oversees,the Greek government it's met the required thresholdfor its critical bond swap² deal to go ahead.It says a more than required 75% of creditors³ have accepted the deal to write off more than 100 billion dollars in loans.Greece needed the deal to proceed to secure its bailout funds.

 

The largest solo storm in 5 years has struck the earth.Scientists have warned it could disrupt electricity grids⁴ and satellite navigation systems.Now some airlines rerouted flights as precaution but so far there's been no adverse⁵ effect.

 

Syrian activists⁶ say there has been a new massacre⁷ in the city of Homs.They say government troops have killed dozens of people from a handful of families in a serious of reprisal⁸ killings⁹.It comes just the day after UN Humanitarian¹⁰ Chief visited the battle scarred city and the country's deputy oil minister announced he was defecting to the rebels.
