 A Hamas official and eight members of his family have been killed in a single strike on a Gaza home. Israel says the bombardment will continue for as long as Hamas keeps launching rockets across the border. Hamas has fired more than 500 rockets in the last four days, killing¹ three Israelis and injuring dozens.

 

 

A big cleanup is underway in South East Queensland after a fierce storm caught many by surprise. The Weather Bureau has forecast the bad weather, but it was much worse than expected. Hailstones, the size of cricket balls, were reported in Brisbane's western suburbs.

 

 

Police have yet to formally identify the body of a woman found at a house in Melbourne's outer west at the weekend. The discovery was made by detectives investigating the disappearance² of 22-year-old Sarah Cafferkey from Bacchus Marsh³. She disappeared ten days ago.

 

 

In Dubai, fire has engulfed⁴ a 34 storeys skyscraper⁵, forcing the evacuation of residents and office workers. The dramatic pictures were posted on a social media website. The building is part of Jumeirah Lakes Towers Development. No one was reported to be injured in the blaze.

 

US President Barack Obama has met the King of Thailand on his first foreign trip since winning a second term. Today, he will make history by becoming the first US president to visit Burma. The US has relaxed its sanctions against Burma since it held elections and began releasing political prisoners.
