 Let’s take a look at the satellite image. A trough is generating¹ a band of rain over northeastern New South Wales and southeastern Queensland, gradually moving north. Risk onshore winds on the New South Wales coast are causing some showers. Another trough in the west is generating thundery showers mostly around Western Australia’s Pilbara. 

 

Looking around the country, in Queensland, thundery showers for inland and northern parts of the state. Mostly sunny and dry in the southeast.

 

In New South Wales, showers and blustery winds along the coast. Mostly dry and sunny inland, 

 

In Victoria, mostly dry and sunny with moderate² light northerly winds. 

 

Tasmania is experiencing light and variable³ winds. Mostly sunny and dry throughout. 

 

In South Australia, mostly sunny and dry with a moderate east to northeasterly flow.

 

In Western Australia, very hot with a band of thundery showers stretching from the southwest of the Kimberley. 

 

And in the Northern Territory, very hot with an isolated⁴ shower or two about the south and Top End. 

 

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s forecast for the capital cities. Brisbane and Sydney, a possible shower. Canberra, partly cloudy. Melbourne, mostly sunny. Hobart, partly cloudy. Adelaide, sunny. And a possible storm in Perth and Darwin.
