Chinese President Xi Jinping is calling on all parties to resolve tensions over Ukraine through dialogue and consultation¹.

He made the remarks during a phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.

The Chinese leader is urging adherence² to a political settlement and the full use of multilateral platforms such as the Normandy format³.

Biden says Russian invasion distinctly possible

President Joe Biden says the U.S. has not yet verified Russia's claim that some of its forces have withdrawn¹⁰ from the Ukraine border.

"That would be good, but we have not yet verified that. We have not yet verified that Russian military units are returning to their home bases. Indeed, our analysts¹¹ indicate that they remain very much in a threatening position."

Biden reiterated¹² his call to Americans in Ukraine to leave before it's too late.

He also acknowledged the likelihood that U.S. and Allied¹³ sanctions on Russia would have significant blowback on the American economy.

54 more unmarked graves found at another Canada indigenous¹⁴ school

Another indigenous community in Canada has discovered 54 unmarked graves at two former residential¹⁵ schools, adding to a growing tally¹⁶ of such burials that shocked the nation last year.

The latest discovery happened in the province of Saskatchewan.

About 150,000 Indigenous children were made to attend 139 Indian Residential Schools beginning in the 1820s.

Many of them were reportedly subjected to physical, mental and sexual abuse.

Reports say about 4,500 students died at the schools.

More than 1,800 graves have been located since last year.

More than 1,400 municipal workers have been fired in New York City for failing to meet the vaccination²⁸ deadline last Friday.

The majority are teachers and other staff from the education department.

It was reported that around 3,000 city employees could lose their jobs after the deadline last week.

The fate of around 10,000 New York City employees is pending²⁹ as their exemption³⁰ requests on medical and religious grounds are being processed.
