Hello. From the CNN center in Atlanta, I'm Naamua Delaney. Thanks for checking in with us. And here's a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

In his second prime time news conference, President Obama defended his economic recovery plan and offered encouraging words and a spirit of compromise.

" We will recover from this recession, but it'll take time. It will take patience. It will take an understanding that when we all work together, when each of us looks beyond our own short-term interests to the wider set of obligations we have to each other. That's when we succeed. That's when we prosper1."

Today, Mr. Obama lobbies on Capitol Hill where he's facing criticism form both major parties that his proposed 3.5-trillion-dollar budget for next year is simply too big.

Thousands of people have rushed to Fargo, North Dakota to fill sand bags and stack them as high as they can to hold back the rising red river and prevent major flooding. The river is expected to crest2 Friday as high as 22 feet above flood stage. Two million sand bags are needed to be filled.

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton is heading to Mexico today for talks of violent war between drug cartels raging there. The Obama Administration announced yesterday it is sending more federal agents and crime fighting equipment to help secure the border. It is also sending money and technology to help Mexican authorities.

The G-20 Summit is now a little more than a week away and the host, British Prime Minister Gorden Brown, is taking his agenda on tour. Today he's in New York where he will meet leading Wall Street financiers and the UN Secretary General. And then it is on to South American for talks in Brazil and Chile. Yesterday, Browns spoke3 to the European parliament in France.

After 8 days together in space, the shuttle and space station crews are saying goodbye. The hatches between the linked space craft will be closed just before 1 p.m. Eastern Time this afternoon. Then Discovery will undock and fly around the space station before heading back to earth. The shuttle is expected to return home on Saturday.
