Hello everyone, from the CNN center in Atlanta, I'm Catherine Callaway, so glad you are checking in with us. Here is a look at what's happening NOW IN THE NEWS.

A senior Pentagon official tells CNN that a US soldier in Baghdad opened fire on his fellow soldiers today, killing1 five people and wounding three others. The incident occurred in Camp Liberty in Baghdad. It isn’t clear if the shooter is among those dead or wounded.

A Kentucky Jury is about to start deliberating whether a former US solider will live or die. Steven Dale Green was convicted last week of raping2 and killing a 14-year-old Iraqi girl and then killing her family. He will get the death penalty or life in prison as murders happened in 2006 near Bagdad. A victims’ relative says that Green should receive the death penalty.

Hospital, insurance companies, unions and drug makers3 are all pledging to keep costs down to save you money on health care. President Obama will announce today those groups have signed on to cut the growth in health care cost. And that could save you about 500 dollars in the first year.

The California wild fire that forced 15,000 people to leave their homes was probably started by sparks from a power tool used to clear brush. The wild fire in Santa Barbara County is now about 55 percent contained. Fire investigators4 were asking people for help to find those possibly responsible for starting the fire.

Starting today it will cost you more to mail that first class letter. It's now 44 cents. The post office says the two-cent increase will pay for rising production cost. Large envelopes will cost 88 cents while mailing a post card is now 28 cents.

Stick with CNN.com 24/7 for news around the world, we also have updates for you right here throughout the day.
