O. J. Simpson is out of jail after posting 125, 000 dollars bail¹ in connection with the armed robbery of sports memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel. The former football star is expected to return to his Florida home. The charges against him carry the possibility of life in prison.

A man who kidnapped a 14-year-old girl and raped² her for a week is sentenced to 421 years in prison. The girl was held at a bunker until being rescued after sending a text message for help.

Former CBS news anchor Dan Rather is suing his old network for 70 million dollars along with former parent company Viacom and three of his former bosses. Rather says the complaint stems from the mishandling of a discredited³ story about President Bush's time in the National Guard.

These monks⁴ are staying silent while on the march. In Myanmar about 500 Buddhist⁵ monks took to the streets in driving rain, protesting hardship brought on by the government's economic policies. Monks here have traditionally headed a protest starting with British colonialism and later military dictatorship.
