NFL commissioner¹ Roger Goodell broke his silence Friday making his first public comments in more than a week about the rash of NFL players involved in domestic violence. At a New York news conference Goodell apologized for his mistake in handling the domestic abuse cases but said he will not resign. He is also instituting new personal conduct policies.

Hundreds of people lined outside M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore Friday to obtain the jerseys² of Ravens³ running back Ray Rice. Rice was cut from the Ravens team after a radio surfaced showing him punching his then fiancée in an elevator in Atlanta City earlier this year. He was also suspended infinitely⁴ by the NFL.

Routes were closed again Friday in northeastern Pennsylvania where a manhunt continued for a seventh day. Police were searching in a dense⁵, swampy⁶ woodland for survivalist Eric Frein suspected of killing⁷ a state police trooper a week ago.
