Officials say multiple people have died following a fire aboard a Greek ferry traveling to Italy. More than 400 people were rescued from the ship when a fire broke out in the car deck. Survivors¹ described a chaotic² scene on board.

Indonisia has aksed the U.S. for help in locating a missing Air Asia jet. The State Department confirmed that the U.S. is considering ways to help in the search and rescue efforts. The plane carrying 162 passengers is believed to have crashed into the ocean.

Heavy snow wreaked³ havoc⁴ in the Balkans as temperatures went down to minus 4 degrees in parts of Bosnia. The area was blanketed by up to 20 inches of snowfall, forcing many motorists to dig their way out.

And Little League starlet Mo'ne Davis is the Associated Press's female athlete of the year. Davis, just 13, is the youngest winner ever after becoming the first girl to win a Little League World Series game.
