A volunteer sheriff's deputy in Tulsa County, Oklahoma is charged with second degree manslaughter after a suspect was shot and killed this month. Authorities say Robert Bates shot the man after mistaking his handgun for his stun¹ gun.

4 former security guards who worked in Iraq are sentenced to prison for shooting dead more than a dozen Iraqi civilians² in 2007. One man got life in prison, the others got 30 years each. The former Blackwater employees claimed they fired in self defense³.

A young couple and their baby are dead after a concrete slab⁴ from a construction on an overpass⁵ fell on their pickup⁶ truck in Washington State on Monday. The accident happened about 30 miles east of Seattle.

And an Alaska Airlines plane heading to Los Angeles quickly returned to Seatle after their pilot realized that an airport worker was in a cargo⁷ hold. The man had apparently⁸ fallen asleep there.
