1. Authorities say several people were killed and others were wounded after a lone¹ gunman opened fire at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Florida international airport. The gunman is in custody² but authorities gave no details on the possible motive³ for the shooting at Terminal Two.

2. Congress tallied⁴ the Electoral College Votes Friday and Donald Trump⁵ is officially elected president with Mike Pence elected vice⁶ president. Trump finished with 304 votes and democrat⁷ Hillary Clinton got 227. They were 7 protest votes for other candidates.

3. An approaching storm is posing a significant threat to the southeast. The storm bringing the possibility of snow, sleet⁸ and freezing rain that promises to make life tough for motorists and weekend travellers. Winter storm warnings are in effect in parts of Alabama and Georgia, and into the Carolina and parts of Virginia.

4. And First Lady Michelle Obama held her last formal event at White House on Friday. Mrs Obama got emotional as she told crowds she to lead by example with hope "Never Fear". The event honored the 2017 national school counselor⁹ of the year and state counselors¹⁰ of the year.
