A key Republican senator, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska said that she opposes flling up Ginsburg's seat before the next president is elected. She is the second GOP senator to voice opposition¹ to nominate someone before the 2020 election.

The memorial, a long ribbon of undulating steel stood at a cemetery⁵ where many COVID-19 victims have been buried. It was designed by the Brazilian architect Crisa Santos.
