  Pulitzer Prize winning film critic Roger Ebert has died. News of his death comes two days after he announced plans to take a "leave of presence" he put it, after occurring of cancer. He was first diagnosed of thyroid cancer in 2002. Yesterday marked 46 years since he first became the Chicago Sun-Times film critic according to the paper website.   Connecticut now has some of the toughest gun control measures in the nation under a law governor Dannel Malloy had signed in response to last December shooting in Santy Hook elementary school. The bill won't finial legislatively1 approval after considerable debates forming the governor to challenge similar action from Congress. Jeff C, a member station of NPR reports somex the governor was calling "a profoundly emotional day" for Connecticut.
 
  Malloy was joining by family members of Newtown victims and surrounded by cameras at the State Capitol.
 
  "We can never undo2 the senseless tragedy that took place on December.14 or those tragedies that played themselves out on a daily basis in our cities. But we can take action here in Connecticut and we can make Connecticut towns and cities safer."
 
  Some parts of the law will take effect immediately including an expansion of the State ban on assault weapons and the ban on the sale or purchase of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. From NPR News, I'm Jeff C, in Harvard.
 
  Texas governor Rick Perry was offering a $100,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the capture and conviction of those behind the murder of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia.
 
  "It is our hope and our expectation that this reward will help convince those who may be holding important information to come forward."
 
  A memorial service is being held for Mike McLelland today.
 
  A clinic that performs in abortion3 is now opening in Wichita, Kansas in nearly four years after the murder of Dr. George Tiller. NPR's Kathy Lohr reports that southwing? women settlers now seeing patients in same building where Tiller used to practice.
 
  The opening is a victory for abortion rights activist4 who have been trying to find a way to offer abortion in the city since May, 2009 when George Tiller was killed in his church. He preformed abortion later-in-pregnancy and for decade was targeted under abortion protesters across the country. The remolded facility is in the same building where Tiller practiced. The clinic director says it provides a way of women healthcare including annual exams, family planning and abortion up to 14 weeks. The clinic employs three doctors. Entire abortion activists5 try to stop the facility from opening and say they will continue to protest outside the building. The clinic owner says he has increased the security and says the clinic is safe. Kathy Lohr, NPR News.

  The National Weather Service has changed the warning system that may have led to confusion about last year's super storm Sandy. NPR's John Hamilton reports it'll start in June all warnings about storm checks Sandy will come from the National Hurricane Center.
 
  While Sandy was rolling up the east coast, the Hurricane Center was in charge of issuing warnings and watches. But shortly before the storm made landfall, another branch of the National Weather Service took over. That was because Sandy had collided with the winter storm system and resulting hybrid6 which technically7 not longer a hurricane, even though it still had hurricane force winds. Some people found it confusing to have information suddenly come from a different part of government. So from now on the Hurricane Center will continue to be the source of warnings and watches for dangerous storms like Sandy. John Hamilton, NPR News.
 
  Authorities reportedly have found 18-year-old hiker Cendoya who has been missing for days in the southern California Mountains. Yesterday her 19-year-old male companion was located in Heavy Brush apparent dehydration8 and reportedly disorientated.
 
  Lance Armstronge hopes a South Virginia a professional career and x runs into another problem. The disgraceful cycle champion was schedule to compete in a swimming event in the University of Texas this weekend. However he dropped out after Swimming International Federation9 body objected. Armstrong had been banned for life from cycling competition for doping. The US Master Swimming executive director Rob Butcher said yesterday, Armstrong could compete in the Master Event because he didn't fall under USADA drug testing rules.
