　　Stuart was also helpful when it came to Ping-pong.

　　斯图亚特在打乒乓球时的用处也很大。

　　The Littles liked Ping-pong, but the balls had away of rolling under chairs, sofas, and radiators,

　　利特尔一家人喜欢打乒乓球，可是球总会滚到椅子、沙发、暖气炉的下面，

　　and this meant that the players were forever stooping down and reaching under things.

　　这时打球的人就总要弯腰钻到这些地方的下面去拣球。

　　Stuart soon leaed to chase balls, and it was a great sight to see him come out from under a hot radiator, pushing a Ping-pong ball with all his might, the perspiration rolling down his cheeks.

　　斯图亚特不久就学会了拣球。很多次，你都能看到他热汗淋漓地从暖气炉底下把一个乒乓球用尽全力推出来的样子。

　　The ball, of course, was almost as high as he was, and he had to throw his whole weight against it in order to keep it rolling.

　　当然了，这个球几乎和他一样高，为了让它往前滚，他不得不把身上的最后一丝力气都使出来。

　　The Littles had a grand piano in their living room,

　　特尔家的起居室里有一架平台型钢琴,

　　which was all right except that one of the keys was a sticky key and didn't work properly.

　　它别的地方都很好，就是有一个琴键有些发涩，不能弹出正确的音来。

　　Mrs. Little said she thought it must be the damp weather, but I don't see how it could be the damp weather,

　　利特尔太太说，这一定是潮湿的天气影响的，可是我不明白它是怎么受潮的，

　　for the key had been sticking for about four years, during which time there had been many bright clear days.

　　那个琴键已经连续四年不好用了，可在这四年里，大部分的时间都是明亮的晴天呀。
