实战口语情景对话 第404期:Being Vegetarian 素食主义者

 　　Well, I'm going to talk a little bit about why I'm vegetarian¹. Actually, I became vegetarian when I was 8 years old. We did a project at school and I found out that animals are actually killed for us to eat and as an 8 year-old I thought that was rather immoral², so I went home and I told my parents that I didn't want to eat meat anymore so now I eat everything really except for meat and fish and I don't eat things with animals fats in either. I think really I'm a vegetarian now because it's a habit and if I were to eat meat, I think I would be quite ill. My favorite food is probably tofu although I like broccoli³ and I like chocolate as well.

　　我要简单谈一下我为什么会成为素食主义者。实际上，我是在8岁时成为素食主义者的。当时学校有个项目，我发现动物实际上是供我们食用才被杀的，当时8岁的我认为那太不道德了，所以我回家告诉我父母我再也不要吃肉了，所以现在我不吃鱼和肉，其他的东西都会吃，当然我也不吃动物脂肪。我认为现在的我是实实在在的素食主义者，因为这已经成为一种习惯，而且如果我吃肉的话，我就会生病。我最喜欢的食物是豆腐，我也喜欢绿菜花和巧克力。

　　Sometimes because I like traveling, I go to places and it's really difficult for vegetarians⁴ because they don't really have anything for vegetarians to eat, so sometimes I just have like, a bowl of rice, or an omelet, or something like that, but when I'm at home, I like to cook for myself, and I like to cook nice vegetarian dishes, and stews⁵ and things like that. My parents didn't mind me becoming a vegetarian, and I think they were really good about it because I don't know many people, who when their child said they wanted to be a vegetarian would accept that, so I was really grateful⁶ to my parents for being so nice and understanding about it.

　　我喜欢旅行，我喜欢去各种地方，这对素食主义者来说很难，因为他们不会提供素食主义者的食物，有时我只吃一碗米饭或是一个煎蛋卷，只能吃这样的东西，不过我在家的时候，我喜欢自己做饭吃，我喜欢烹饪美味的素食菜肴，比如炖菜之类的食物。我父母不介意我成为素食主义者，我认为他们真的很好，我不清楚其他人听到孩子说想成为素食主义者时会不会接受，但是我很感激我的父母能理解我，并接受这一点。
