Today NBA Commissioner David Stern said that betting scandal involving former referee Tim Donaghy was the worst and the most serious situation his experience in the 40 years he’s been associated with the league.
This is not something that is anything other than the act of betrayal of what we’ve known in sports that’s secret ,trust, we think we’ve here a roge, isolated criminal.
Law enforcement officers tell ABC News they believe Donaghy was a referee with gambling⁷ problems who got into debts and hooked up with bookies with not connections, if all this is true,Donaghy apparently⁸ fooled his bosses and colleagues.
Donaghy was a proud of my crew at one time ,he has suspicion about top in bet, absolutely not,I trust him.
Basketball experts say it would be reasonable easy for a referee to affect the outcome of the game,mostly by calling fouls⁹, sports gambling experts RJ Bell says there are troubling cotton in Donaghy records.
Last season in 15 games Tim Donaghy he refereed¹⁰ which was extremely money bet on one side , one team bet more than the others, the betters won every time , he – that happening by pure chance over 3200 to one.
The – and mistrusted will likely expand – if more referees¹¹ are implicated¹² which commissioner Stern could not rule out today.
If you have one role to froze us we appears to have this case ,that’s bad enough and that does cast shadow over the season but half three four or more even two that really makes it that’s much worse.
Today commissioner Stern said he would do anything virtually regardless the cost to reestablish the trust with fans ,he knows the stakes is high here as one sports writer put it, families to pay hundreds dollars tickets want to know they’re seeing pro-basketball not  pro-wrestling
