 The former San Diego mayor says he who gambled away a billion dollars has acknowledged taking more than 2 million dollars from her late husband’s charity. Maureen O'Connor cut the deal that would allow her to avoid prosecution¹ while she works to repay the money. She wagered² the billion dollars from 2000 to 2009, mainly playing at this video poker³. In San Diego, Vegas, and Atlantic city, O'Connor was married to the founder⁴ of the Jack&box fastfood chain. She said that she was going through rough time. 

“It was of the time that in my life, while I guess the last chapter in my life, where I lost my husband, I lost three my siblings⁵, I lost my two best friends, that I had a difficult time.”

O'Connor also blamed her gambling⁶ addiction⁷ on a brain tumor⁸, suggesting it impaired⁹ her reasoning.
