The world’s biggest tech companies agreed to a European Union code of conduct curbing¹ hate speech and terrorist propaganda. Google, Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft promised to review most complaints within 24 hours, removing the offending material if necessary. But free-speech advocates worry that controversial and satirical material will fall victim to complaints from authoritarian² or thin-skinned regimes.
