 They say the Queen has seen it all before. Well, actually, not this. Though she meets David Cameron regularly as she did 11 of his predecessors¹. She had never attended a full meeting of the Cabinet. Normally a bussling affair as the Monarch² took her seat. You can hear a pin drop or a camera shot a click. The Prime Minister chose to point out the rarity of the occasion.

But we think the last time a Monarch attending in a cabinet was in 1781 during American War of Independence. But I’m happy to report that relations have been improved slightly since then and I’m got to speak with President Obama on video conference this afternoon.
