 Tonight heavy rain will spread eastwards¹ to all parts, bringing difficult travelling conditions with surface water and spray, the winds will strengthen behind the rain band with gales² developing in many places by dawn, the strongest winds will be during Tuesday morning's rush hour with gust³ exceeding 55 miles per hour in land and 70-80 miles per hour around the exposed coasts and hills in the north and west, it will be cool and windy for most with sunny spells and blustery showers, eastern Scotland and eastern England will see the strongest winds during the afternoon, northern and western Scotland, north Wales and north west England will continue to see showers, but most of other places will turn dry later, with plenty of evening sunshine, don't forget there is much more weather on our catch up service.
