　　If it rains a lot in one season, the area may be influenced by monsoons². 如果一个季节下很多雨，那么该地区可能受季风的影响。

　　A monsoon is a seasonal³ wind which brings heavy rain. 季风是一种季节性的风，它会带来大雨。

　　Once the monsoon blows, it lasts for a few months. 季风一刮就是几个月。

　　Many regions around the world are affected⁴ by monsoons every year. 世界上有许多地区年年都受到季风的影响。

　　East Asia, North America, Australia and many other areas are monsoon regions. 东亚、北美、澳大利亚和其他许多地区都是季风区。

　　During a monsoon season, it rains heavily and frequently. 季风季节经常下雨，而且都很大。

　　Therefore, monsoon areas experience floods very often. 因此，季风地区经常遭遇洪水。

　　If the area is near the sea or a river, the damage can be more severe. 如果该地区靠近大海或河流，破坏可能会更严重。
