英闻天下——309 Dutch FM Visits Indonesia to Strengthen Ties

 　　Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans is set to offer water management experience to the Indonesian government during his visit there.

 

　　He is scheduled for talks with his counterpart¹ Marty Natalegawa and says flooding issues are something both countries have in common.

 

　　"There is an old saying that 'God creates the world but the Dutch made Holland' simply because we had to fight against water. So the old fight against water is something we could share experience with, with Indonesia, and I believe it also offers great business opportunities."

 

　　Every year, parts of Indonesia are regularly flooded during the rainy season, with 4 people dying² last month in Jakarta from the worst flood to hit the capital since 2007.
