这一对词都是形容词，又都具有“传染性的”、“传染病的”意义，但内涵和使用场合有所不同。

Infectious disease 是“间接传染的病”，指病菌通过空气、食物、水、衣服、容器等物的传染。例：

Contagious disease 是“直接传染的病”，一般指跟病人直接接触而感染的病。例：
