Migrants who spend their lives gracefully⁵ plying⁶ hundreds of miles of sea and air, feeding at their leisure are now bound to these frozen shores of rock and sand, battered⁷ by the cause of their young, more food.. 

 

It’s nightfall in Australia. Rush hour is in full swing. The little red flying foxes are migrating, and parched⁸ with thirsts. But to drink on the wing is a dangerous undertaking
