So why is that? Yes, book burnings are ugly and harm to books has heralded¹ harm to authors, readers, groups of people classified as unacceptable - their thoughts and dreams thrown onto pyres as proof they themselves are expendable, a demonstration² of intent. But it can be seductive to think it's good to burn books when they're bad.  

 

译文：  那么究竟为何？没错，焚书昭示粗陋，损害书籍预示着作者、读者及被排斥者会遭受损失。他们的想法和梦想葬身熊熊烈火，此举意欲明显，证明了他们自己的一文不值。可是通常焚烧坏书的行为却是可取的。为什么不能一把火毁掉那些在我眼中错漏百出的书籍呢？
