Kate Hilpern was adopted as a baby by a British family. She knew very little about her birth parents. But when she reached adulthood¹, she went to look for them. The news wasn't good. Kate found out that her mother had died in India, aged² 19, just over a year after giving birth. But the mystery about how she died led Kate on a quest to find out what had happened. Kate told me about the moment that she got hold of her birth certificate and first made contact with her maternal³ grandparents.

译文：

当年还是婴儿的凯特·西尔蓬被一个英国家庭收养。她对自己的生身父母所知甚少。但是长大成人后，她便去寻找他们。可是收到的并不是好消息。凯特发现自己的母亲在生下她一年后就死在印度，年仅19岁。但是她的神秘死亡让凯特想知道到底发生了什么。凯特告诉了我当她拿到自己的出生证明并且第一次和她外公外婆联系时的场景。
