I tried to open it, but it was fastened inside. Queequeg, said I softly through the key-hole:all silent.  推了推，门反锁着。

I say, Queequeg! why don't you speak? It's I—Ishmael. But all remained still as before.  魁魁格！我冲着钥匙眼儿喊，还是没反应。 

I began to grow alarmed. I had allowed him such abundant time; I thought he might have had an apoplectic¹ fit.  还是没有一点动静。 我有点慌了。是不是中风了？ 

I looked through the key-hole; but the door opening into an odd corner of the room, the key-hole prospect² was but a crooked³ and sinister⁴ one.  我趴在钥匙眼儿上往里看，

I could only see part of the foot-board of the bed and a line of the wall, but nothing more.  只能看到房间的一角儿，没什么异样。
