You’re lucky that I belong to that small minority of wives who stay for the sake of their children. But now the kids are out of the house, I have reached another milestone¹⁰ in my life. I’ve had enough of miming¹¹ your words to them, just to pretend we’re a happy couple. I’ve had enough of being mimetic, and I’m no longer staying in this miserable¹² Muja.”

“But,” Brian gasped¹³.

“No but” Betty cut him off, “I’ve had enough of this mimicry¹⁵ of copying whatever you do, laughing at your jokes, go and find another fool to mimic¹⁴ your lifestyle. It is quite miraculous¹⁶ that I am managed to last this long, I’m getting away to mingle¹⁷ with a whole new set of people.”
