OSAKA, Jan. 1 (Xinhua) -- A passenger plane of a Japanese low- cost carrier1 was struck by lightning in the southwestern Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka on Tuesday, but all passengers and crew members were safe, local press reported.

landing3 at Fukuoka Airport, the report said, adding that the plane landed safely after the incident and none of the 181 passengers and crew members was injured.
As the plane needs checks and possible repair work after the incident, the airline had to cancel its three flights to the Kansai Airport in western Japan, according to the report.
