　　Saturday kicked off with Granada ending Rayo Vallecano's 4-game winning run with a 2-0 defeat. A Jordi Amat own goal and an 80th minute shot from Recio, who has recently joined Granada on loan from Malaga gave the Primera Liga strugglers a deserved win.

　　New Sevilla coach Unai Emery couldn't enjoy a winning league debut⁸ as his side were held 1-1 in Getafe. Jose Antonio Reyes put Sevilla ahead, but Getafe earned a draw thanks to Adrian Colunga's second half free kick.

　　The day ended with Celta taking a valuable point away to Malaga. Martin Demichelis put Malaga ahead after slotting home a rebound⁹, but Augusto Fernandez assured a draw for Celta, who have not lost in Malaga for 30 years, 14 minutes from time.
