MEXICO CITY, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people were killed and 80 others were wounded in an explosion inside the headquarters of the Mexican oil giant Pemex, the company said on Thursday.
The explosion forced the evacuation of the tower of Petroleos Mexicanos, a
skyscraper1 of 214 meters, the company said in its Twitter account.
"What happened was an explosion in the building B2 of
administrative2 center. There are injuries and damages to the PB (ground floor)," said Pemex.
Pemex spokesman Francisco Montano confirmed that the explosion caused damages to the ground floor and the administrative offices, with some workers and staff injured.
Police reports indicated that the accident occurred in an electrical substation, and the staff of Pemex Tower were
evacuated3 later as a preventive measure.
