　　"They agreed to continue the close coordination¹ between the United States and Israel on a range of security issues," the White House said in a brief statement.

　　Israel has so far made no comments on its reported air raids on targets inside of Syria on Friday and Sunday, but U.S. officials said earlier that the attacks were aimed at a cache of advanced Iranian-built missiles intended apparently² for Hezbollah, a Shiite militant³ group in Lebanon.

　　Syria's state media, however, accused Israel of trying to help the country's armed opposition⁴ in its prolonged conflict with government forces.

　　The Obama administration has been pushing for a resumption of peace talks between the Israelis and the Palestinians in recent months, and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry plans to return to the region to continue what he called a "quiet diplomacy⁵" on May 21-22.
