　　"France condemns³ the violence that broke out these past days, wherever it comes from," said Philippe Lalliot, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry⁴. "All light must be shed on the violence that left more than 50 dead this morning."Bloody⁵ clashes occurred Monday morning outside the Egyptian Republican Guard House in Cairo's Nasr City, where deposed⁶ president Mohamed Morsi is reportedly detained, leaving at least 51 people killed.

　　The Egyptian army said the killings⁷ near the House were provoked by Morsi's supporters who attacked the premise⁸ by using live ammunition⁹, local media reported.

　　"France takes note of the establishment of an inquiry¹⁰ commission and expresses its solidarity¹¹ with the families of the victims and the wounded," Lalliot said, urging Egyptians to remain restrained and maintain the unity¹² of their nation.

　　In talks with his Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Kamel Amr Monday afternoon, French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius reiterated¹³ the importance of democratic transition and the involvement of all political forces.x Egyptian army ousted¹⁴ Morsi last Wednesday after millions of people took to the streets to protest the Islamist president's "poor performance" since he took office a year ago.
