The House passed a measure to fund government that includes money for a border wall. The Senate has been called back into session to consider it, in hopes of avoiding a government shutdown.

Pro-independence protesters in Spain's Catalonia region blocked a major road. The protesters also clashed with some drivers. Police used force to re-open the road.

And winds reaching more than 70 miles an hour pounded western Washington State. Trees and power lines fell, shipping containers flipped, and 300,000 homes and businesses lost power.
