    The U.K.(or United Kingdom)is made up of England,Scotland,Wales and Northern lreland.There are many mountains in Wales.Not long ago there were wild animals in the forests.Sometimes wolves attacked people and killed them.More than 700 years ago,the Prince of Wales had a very big dog.Its name was Gelert and it was very brave.It often went hunting with the Prince.One day the Prince left his dog at home and told it to look after his baby son,who was sleeping in a small wooden bed.several hours later,when the Prince returned,Gelert ran out to meet his master.Suddenly the Prince saw blood on Gelert's jaws and head.“What have you been doing?”the Prince said in alarm.He rushed into his room and saw the small bed lying on its side on the floor.There was blood on his son's clothes.“So you have killed my son!”the Prince shouted angrily.“you unfaithful dog!”He took out his sword and stabbed the dog with one blow.Just then the Prince heard a baby crying.The Prince ran out of the house and saw his son lying on the ground unhurt Near him was a dead wolf,which had tried to steal the baby from the bed.Then the Prince realised that Gelert had defeated the wolf in Order to save his son.The Prince ran back into the house but he was too late.The brave Gelert was dead.Tears ran down the Prince's face when he realised that he had killed his faithful friend He carried Gelert's body to the top of a mountain and buried him there.Every morning,he walked up the mountain so that he could stand bythe dog's grave for a few minutes.If you go to Mount Snowdon in Wales,people will show you where Gelert is buried.It reminds people of a brave and faithful dog.It also reminds us all not to jump to a conclusion without knowing the full facts.Exercises:
