Egypt: 80% of oil slick cleared off Red Sea coast(在线收听

CAIRO, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 80 percent of an oil slick detected(发现,检测) off the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Hurghada has been cleared and the situation is quite satisfactory, Red Sea governor Magdi Qubeisi said Tuesday.
"Efforts are continuing to completely(完全地) clean up the spill and the entire process will take another week," Egyptian TV quoted Qubeisi as saying.
There is no indication that the oil slick which spread to the beaches of the northern part of the tourist and holiday resorts was continuing to contaminate the sea, Qubeisi said.
Earlier on Tuesday, the governor ordered the formation of a committee to assess the damage.
Egyptian media said Saturday that the leakage has caused a 20- km-long spill along the coast of the Red Sea city Hurghada, eastern Egypt.(本文由在线英语听力室整理编辑)
