1. Longtime Washington journalist Helen Thomas abruptly retires from the Hearst News Service after her remarks on Israel sparked criticism. Thomas issued an apology but announced her retirement shortly after White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs denounced her remarks during his daily briefing.

2. A Coast Guard official says the cap placed over the ruptured well head is now collecting more than 460,000 gallons of oil a day. But it's still not clear if that is even most of the leaking oil. Officials say that there are now hundreds of thousands of patches of oil in the Gulf of Mexico to deal with.

3. A gunman shot and killed his wife outside a restaurant in South Florida. 38-year-old Gerardo Regalado then shot six other women in the restaurant, killing three of them before killing himself. Police say he bypassed at least two men when he fired at the women inside.

4. The new iPhone is revealed by Apple's CEO Steve Jobs at the company's annual conference for software developers. This new iPhone comes out on June 24th. It will have a higher resolution screen, longer battery life and a thinner design.
