1. President Barack Obama’s chief of staff says Republicans have given the White House a political gift by criticizing its push for a $20 billion compensation fund from BP. Rahm Emanuel told ABC's This Week that Republicans appear to consider BP the aggrieved party instead of the Gulf Coast communities hurt by the oil spill.

2. A gunman attacked his stepdaughter's family as they ate lunch at a California restaurant, killing her husband and six-year-old son, wounding the woman and another child, and then fatally shooting himself. Police say 56-year-old Jimmy Schlager walked over to a table at Del Taco and fired several shots.

3. Friends say the stepmom of a missing Oregon boy faced a second polygraph test this weekend. Terri Horman said she dropped seven-year-old Kyron at school more than two weeks ago. He hasn't been seen since.

4. Firefighters freed a three-year-old girl in eastern China who was stuck in a washing machine for more than an hour. Rescuers removed the machine's exterior panels before cutting a part of the plastic drum with a knife. At one point, her mother stoops down to comfort her, telling her she’ll be out soon.
