1. The U.S. has been eliminated from the World Cup after losing to Ghana 2-1 in overtime. U.S. came back from a 1-0 deficit with a penalty kick by Landon Donovan but they couldn’t come back after Ghana scored three minutes into overtime.


2. Steady rain has been dampening protests at the G20 summit in Toronto. Organizers were hoping to draw a crowd of about 10,000 to today’s demonstration, but only about half that turned out.


3. President Barack Obama and other G8 leaders are agreeing on the need to confront Iran and North Korea. At their summit in Toronto, they criticized Iran for its lack of transparency on its nuclear activities and its human rights record. And they condemned North Korea for allegedly torpedoing a South Korean warship in March.


4. The Coast Guard is keeping a close watch on tropical storm Alex as efforts continue to stop the gushing oil well in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center says the storm does not appear to be on a track to hit the oil spill, but it’s too early to say for sure.
