1. The alleged "Grim Sleeper" has pleaded not guilty to the murders of ten California women. Lonnie Franklin Jr. was arrested last month after authorities said DNA evidence linked the mechanic to the series of killings from 1985 to 1988, and then again from 2002 to 2007.

 

2. At least nine people are dead after a former policeman hijacked a bus in the Philippine capital of Manila. Authorities

say the suspect had been fired and was demanding his job back. He fatally shot eight Chinese tourists before being killed by a police sniper.

 

3. Officials in Chile are taking steps to provide food, water and medicine to 33 miners, who have been trapped inside a gold and copper mine for 18 days. The supplies will have to keep them alive for the four months it may take to carve a tunnel wide enough to pull them out.

 

4. Tiger Woods and his wife are officially divorced. The divorce comes nine months after Woods crashed his SUV outside their home near Orlando, setting off revelations that the golfer had been unfaithful. Financial terms of the split have not been disclosed.
