1. Seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens will be arraigned in federal court in Washington today. The former pitcher is accused of lying to Congress about his alleged steroid use. Clemens has denied any wrongdoing.

 

2. The National Hurricane Center says Earl could become a major Category 3 hurricane later today. Right now, the storm packs winds near 105 miles per hour. It centered just east to Puerto Rico. Forecasters say there is a chance the hurricane could brush the US Mid-Atlantic region toward the end of the week.

 

3. A new video shows the 33 miners trapped in a mine in Chile. The video shows the group sending emotional greetings to their families. They say they are doing better since receiving food. The miners have been trapped since August 5th. It could be several more months until they are able to get out.

 

4. Gas prices continue to slide. According to a recent survey, the average price for a gallon of gas has fallen more than seven cents in the past two weeks to 2.70 a gallon. St. Louis has the lowest price at 2.39 a gallon. The most expensive is in San Francisco at 3.13
