1. Canadian authorities are investigating whether a bomb scare was really a terrorism hoax. A plane bound from Toronto to Karachi was diverted to Stockholm after Canadian authorities received a tip that a passenger was carrying explosives. No explosives were found on the plane or on the man.

 

2. A sudden powerful storm ripped through Haiti's capital Friday, shredding thousands of tents in homeless camps and killing five people including two children. More than a million people have called the camps homes since the devastating quake eight months ago.

 

3. Lindsay Lohan didn't even have to spend a night in jail. The actress posted $300,000 bail late Friday night. Lohan spent a little more than half a day in the women's detention center, nowhere near the month-long stay ordered by a judge on Friday morning for failing a drug test.

 

4. Rescuers who battled exhaustion and darkness succeeded in saving 14 pilot whales from a pod of 74 that have stranded on a remote New Zealand beach.
