1. President Barack Obama is back on the campaign trail, trying to bolster the Democratic base as the midterm elections approach. A new AP poll finds just half of the people who voted for President Obama two years ago say they will definitely vote this year. However, two thirds of the people who voted for John McCain say they will vote this year.

 

2. Jury selection starts today in the trial of a man charged in the death of Washington intern Chandra Levy. Ingmar Guandique is accused of murder, kidnapping and other charges. Authorities say he attacked Levy as she jogged along Rock Creek Park in May of 2001.

 

3. Saudi intelligence services are warning of a new terror threat from al-Qaeda against Europe, particularly in France. In a joint TV and radio interview on Sunday, the French interior minister said "The threat is real."

 

4. The Philadelphia Phillies had evened their National League Championship Series at one game apiece. Roy Oswalt pitched eight innings, getting up only one run in a 6-1 win. Game 3 is Tuesday in San Francisco. Game 3 of the Yankees-Rangers series is tonight in New York
