1. Investigators are conducting tests to determine if a shooting at a Marine Corps recruiting station is connected to recent shootings at the Pentagon and National Marine Corps Museum. The FBI says the same gun was used to shoot at the Pentagon and the Marine Museum.

 

2. A massive storm is making its way from the Central Plains to the East Coast, bringing everything from strong winds, rain, and in some spots, tornadoes. Gust top 81 miles per hour, snapping trees and power lines. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the system's pressure rating was among the lowest ever in a non-tropical storm in the mainland US.

 

3. The cholera outbreak in Haiti is sparking protests in the island nation. Aid workers say hundreds of protesters threw rocks at a treatment center that was preparing to open, because it was being set up too close to a school.

 

4. The Fall Classic begins tonight in San Francisco with a great pitching matchup. The hometown Giants will send two-time defending Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum to the hill, while the Texas Rangers will counter with Cliff Lee. Lee has not lost so far in the playoffs, winning all three of his starts.
