1. Today is the final full day of campaigning before the 2010 midterm elections. President Obama was in Ohio yesterday, stumping for Democratic candidates. It's expected Republicans will take over control of the House, but control of the Senate remains in play.

 

2. A team of US investigators is headed to Yemen to help search for suspects in the most recent terror plot. The Yemen-based al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula has been linked to the bomb plot because of the use of the power explosive PETN. US intelligence officials believe the bomb maker is a 28-year-old Saudi named Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri.

 

3. Indonesia's deadly volcano has unleashed another powerful eruption, spewing out towering clouds of hot ash. There are no immediate reports of new casualties or damage. Mount Merapi has killed at least 38 people in the past week.

 

4. The San Francisco Giants are one win away from the World Series title after defeating the Texas Rangers Sunday night. Final score: 4-0. The Giants now lead the best-of-seven series three-games-to-one. Game 5 is tonight. It’s a rematch from Game 1. Tim Lincecum will pitch for the Giants, Cliff Lee for the Rangers.
